The concept of managing personal change is rarely addressed in traditional learning or organizational models, which tend to focus on change management from an external perspective rather than empowering individuals. Most existing frameworks are designed for organizations to apply to others, rather than supporting personal adaptation. Personal change encompasses any transformation that occurs to an individual—be it positive, neutral, or negative—and is inherently centered on the person experiencing it.

The SCARED SO WHAT personal change model is distinct as the first tailored approach aimed at helping individuals develop skills to navigate personal change effectively. Whether a change is perceived as beneficial, indifferent, or challenging, understanding how to manage it is crucial for resilience and success. Acceptance and rejection are natural responses, but the essential question remains: how do we actively manage change?

The initial segment of the program features a series of educational videos designed to deepen understanding of personal change and introduce strategies for managing it. Watching these videos provides foundational knowledge necessary for engaging with the subsequent elements of the tool.

The next phase emphasizes emotional awareness and encourages critical reflection on one's experiences during change. By analyzing each component of the SCARED framework, users can make informed decisions through introspection and deliberate actions. This process is supported by a 30-question assessment that gauges users' feelings towards the change—structured to encourage thoughtful consideration rather than superficial responses.
